Umodzi wa a Malawi in Germany hosts 54th Malawi Independence Celebrations in Munich.

On 6th July 2018, Umodzi wa a Malawi in Germany (UMG) proudly hosted Malawi’s 54th Independence Day celebrations in the vibrant city of Munich. The event brought together Malawians and friends of Malawi from across Germany to honour the country’s rich history, culture, and achievements since gaining independence in 1964.
 
The celebrations featured traditional Malawian cuisine and music, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that showcased Malawi’s unique cultural heritage. Speeches by the Malawian Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Michael Kamphambe Nkhoma flanked by his Deputy, Mr Alexius Ghoddia, as well as the Chairman of Umodzi wa a Malawi in Germany e.V, Mr Alexander Kambili highlighted the importance of unity, resilience, and the shared vision for Malawi’s future.

 

H.E Kamphambe Nkhoma, “Fostering unity and cultural exchanges among Malawians and between Malawi and Germany is essential for strengthening mutual understanding, promoting shared growth, and celebrating the rich diversity that enriches both nations.”

 

UMG’s role in organizing the event emphasized its commitment to fostering community spirit and promoting Malawian culture in the diaspora. The gathering was a memorable occasion, strengthening ties among Malawians in Germany while celebrating the nation’s enduring journey of independence.
